My ongoing project ‘Ambiguous Items’ examines the male gaze in relation to feminist theory. My work reflects on the hierarchies of power in relation to the female body in Chinese society. It considers compliance with societal norms and traditional representations of femininity resulting in an image of women as submissive and silent members of society, controlled by the eyes and opinions of others.

My work explores the subjugation of the female body in various forms by abstracting the physical function of anatomy to an idealised and objectified perspective.
