e-PUPP

Pressure ulcers are painful and debilitating conditions, and yet whilst they are preventable with adequate nursing care, it is estimated that just under half a million people in the UK will develop one in any given year. 50% of patients with a serious pressure ulcer will die within 4 months.

e-PUPP is a series of ergonomic wearable pads that stimulate areas of the body that are at high risk of developing pressure ulcers. The stimulation induces a range of physiological responses which reduce the risk of pressure ulcer development.

Optimised for use in hospitals and the care home, the device is suitable for use with the most vulnerable, including unconscious patients. The pads are to be used in conjunction with standard nursing care, and are designed to minimise the additional workload for nursing staff in order to enable a safe, comfortable and effective way to prevent pressure ulcers.
