Connecting Communities: Housing Typology
This project looks at the HDB housing typology and is divided into three parts:
Part 1 focuses on the long and narrow corridor, which tends to make inhabitants uncomfortable as passers-by glance into their homes, instead of bringing in the essence of both a sidewalk/street life and more privacy into the HDB corridor.
Part 2 explores the stairwell corridor— a dark and narrow space, which through material explorations becomes warmer and more welcoming.
Part 3 looks at the large double-volume void space in front of the lift. A beautiful space, full of possibilities. A series of speculative designs show the residents the beauty of the space as previous decades of inhabitation have made them forget how unique the space truly is.
