Francisco Llinas-Casas explores notions of migration, Latin American identity, the Bolivarian Diaspora, and the elaboration, performance and representation of cultural difference. He is part of the UNESCO RILA artists network and current resident at Fondazione Pistoletto.
His work often takes the form of installations and participatory art, however, his is making process explores a breadth of media and techniques; starting with annotations, drawings and video collages, which are later translated into sculptural pieces. Such a multidisciplinary approach responds to his interest in liminality as the space where identity is negotiated, and art as an emancipated form of enunciation.
Similarly, an important part of his praxis is the development of socially-engaged art projects responding to ideas of cultural belonging and representation, de-colonisation of cultural spaces and stories of migration. As part of community-oriented projects, he has collaborated with various cultural organisations, facilitating workshops, discussions, talks and exhibitions.

Collaboration
Due to many similarities in their migratory stories and coinciding artistic concerns, Francisco Llinas-Casas and Paria Goodarzi have developed multiple collaborative projects under the joint name ‘Distanced Assemblage’; responding to ideas around belonging and representation, decolonisation of cultural spaces and the ambivalent coexistence of civilised life, conflict and displacement.
As part of their collaboration and embedded art practice, Paria and Francisco are currently artists in residence at Fondazione Pistoletto and endorsed artists by UNESCO RILA artists network.
