ˈalɡərɪð(ə)m

ˈalɡərɪð(ə)m

ˈalɡərɪð(ə)m is a dystopian themed graphic novel that takes on the subject of surveillance, personal data, and digital security. The project seeks to shine light onto the grey areas of these data security at the cost of our ethics and morals; how it has a way of alienating people, separating us into certain categories, and stripping away part of our identity. The graphic novel features an algorithm concept of creating probabilities and constantly optimizing them.

This project is inspired by the documentary film, ‘The Social Dilemma’ where it focuses on how big social media companies manipulate users by harvesting personal data in their platform with our algorithms — a detailed formula to solving a problem, or in other words, a specific way of doing things — and how it has gone largely unregulated in recent years.

The narrative is part of communication design that sets the premise in a way that raises questions that have been ignored, enabling readers to view the intangible subject of data security in a different light, scope, and understanding.
